UNDP in Ukraine

To kick-off the 2010 FIFA World Cup™, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassadors, Didier Drogba and Zinedine Zidane, launched an anti-poverty TV spot appealing for the world to live up to the challenge and join the team that will beat poverty.

Over 1,000 communities across Ukraine are engaged in bringing tangible change in their lives in partnership with local authorities with support and funding from the Community Based Approach to Local Development Project - a joint initiative of the European Union and United Nations Development Programme.  

A local TV Station profiles successes in bilateral cooperation with UNDP in Ivano-Frankivsk (West Ukraine). This city has been UNDP's long-standing partner in implementing 'Municipal Governance and Sustainable Development Programme'. Most recently, on 27-28 May, 2010, the city hosted a 'round-table' meeting on how to deal with solid wastes in Ukrainian small and medium-sized cities. 

Many of us might be sick of "reforms" as such. Yet, we all want to have a fair trial when going into court. We don't want to experience any dignity humiliation. We want to be sure that the court acted in accordance with the law when loosing our case.

Working with the Ukrainian Government, UNDP implements a ‘Millennium Development Goals' Project. Moreover, United Nations Development Programme, being part of UN Agencies in Ukraine, closely cooperates with them and coordinates MDGs achievement process.

Kyiv, Ukraine, 16 April 2008 -International experts, government executives from Eastern Europe, business leaders, think-tanks and NGOs shared the experiences of poverty alleviation and social inclusion through multilateral partnerships at an international conference organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

Recognising the need to promote community-based development in Ukraine and raise public awareness about the opportunities of this approach across Ukraine, UN Development Programme has released a documentary film entitled “A Step Ahead: How Ukrainian Communities Are Helping Themselves”.
